What Coaches Need to Know About Systematic Family Constellations

ICF DC Metro Chapter- November 4, 5-6:30pm ET

Intro to Family Constellations; Releasing Ancestral Burdens and Reclaiming Support

Thursday, November 13th, 2025 at 7-8:30pm ET

This workshop is an experiential primer in Systemic Family Constellation work. As both a philosophy and a process, this modality offers a systemic lens through which to understand both intergenerational trauma and intergenerational fortitude.

Systemic Family Constellations is based on the principle that both our challenges and our strengths have a lineage. In this work, we aim to support clients as they leave behind what hinders their growth, and reclaim what supports it.

In this live, interactive workshop, participants will have the opportunity to experience the process of Family Constellations for themselves.

Truth and Reconciliation: Bringing Together What’s Been Separated

Saturday October 18th, 2025
10am-4pm, includes lunch

We find ourselves in a current political, economic, and sociological climate of “us vs. them,” thinking steeped in division, fear, righteousness, and violence. According to Family Constellations, reconciliation is defined as “bringing together that which has been separated.”

In this workshop we’ll explore the archetypal relationship between victims and perpetrators, and how these roles may live in our family systems. We’ll take a look at what has been separated in our families and in the larger world, and explore what can be done to unite the parts.

We may consider how we embody both victim and perpetrator in our own lives, as well as who determines when justice has been served. We’ll explore what can be done to bring together that which has been separated in our families, communities, countries, and within our own selves.

Grief; Honoring Our Pain and Reclaiming Lifeforce

Sunday, December 14th, 2025
10am-4pm, includes lunch

All of us have experienced loss of some kind, whether it’s the death of a loved one, the end of a significant relationship, losing a job, health challenges, or a dream deferred. And yet, as Bert Hellinger, the founder of Family Constellations noted about grief;

“If you give it time, the hole becomes a space.”

In this workshop, we’ll explore: how can we honor and acknowledge our loss without it preventing us from moving forward in generative ways? How we might bear the grief of the present and the past, without sacrificing our future? What gentle adjustments might we make to allow adequate time for the hole to become a space?

Alternatives to Addiction and Shame

Saturday January 17, 2026
10am-4pm, includes lunch

Shame lives in family systems not as an individual entity, but rather as a part of the collective ecosystem. Shame may exist without addiction, but addiction is usually accompanied by shame.

According to Family Constellations expert Suzi Tucker, addiction is a resource. (An unhealthy resource, but a resource nonetheless.) It is often cultivated to cope with shame, grief, or a whole host of equally difficult circumstances. Like shame, addiction lives in family systems not in isolation, but permeates multiple spheres.

In this workshop we’ll explore the relationship between addiction and shame. We’ll look at addiction as a resource for both individuals and family systems, and identify more generative alternative resources that come from deeper in the ancestry as well as from the present moment.

The Power of Reciprocity: Balancing Giving and Taking in Partnerships

Saturday, March 28, 2026
10am-4pm, includes lunch

All relationships between peers are maintained through a balance of give and take. When one party gives (or takes) more than the other for an extended period of time, the relationship inevitably falls apart.

Whether our relationship is with a spouse, a friend, or a colleague, we form both overt and covert agreements with each other. As people grow over time, it serves both the individuals and the relationship to update these agreements. When this doesn’t happen, the relationship suffers.

In this workshop we’ll explore: How the balance of give and take protects our love for each other, and how we can bring balance to our relationships that feel imbalanced.

Mother & Life: Revealing the Invisible Patterns That Shape Us

Saturday, May 9, 2026
10am-4pm, includes lunch

Our relationship with our mother is the first imprint we receive—the first experience of love, safety, and separation. As Bert Hellinger, founder of Family Constellations, taught, this primary bond becomes a metaphor for how we relate to life itself. Do we receive life with open arms, or do we struggle, feeling unseen, unsupported, or disconnected?

In this interactive group Family Constellations workshop, we’ll explore the hidden dynamics that shape our relationship with our mothers—and, by extension, with life itself. Through this powerful group process, we’ll gently uncover and explore ancestral burdens, inviting shifts in patterns of self-sacrifice, resentment, or longing. This workshop is designed for individuals—our family does not need to be present for us to identify and begin to transform these deep-rooted dynamics.

Whether you seek deeper self-care, more ease in your relationships, or clarity in your path, this work offers the possibility of profound shifts. You’re welcome to bring a personal question related to a current life challenge or to attend as a witness to others’ process. Open to adults 18 and older. Join us in this sacred space for healing, insight, and renewal.
